The United World Wrestling (UWW) Bureau meeting held on Tuesday announced the Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling World Cup draws on Tuesday in Istanbul.
Greco-Roman World Cup will take place on May 19-20 in Shiraz, Iran and will be hosted by the Iran Wrestling Federation.
Group A of Greco-Roman World Cup will comprise Russia, Belarus, Germany and Kazakhstan while Group B features Azerbaijan, Turkey, Ukraine and host Iran.
Meanwhile, USA Wrestling will host the Men’s Freestyle World Cup to be held on June 11-12 at The Forum in Los Angeles.
Freestyle World Cup will have Russia, Georgia, Turkey and Mongolia in Group A, with Iran, Azerbaijan, and India joining hosts United States in Group B.
For the last three years, Iran and the United States have hosted the Greco-Roman and freestyle World events, respectively.
Azerbaijan won the title of Greco-Roman World Cup last year in Tehran while Iran claimed gold of Freestyle World Cup champions in last year’s gold medal final in the US.
The World Cup is an annual competition featuring the top eight ranked nations from the previous year’s world championships. The competition is separated into two groups each comprised of four nations.
